This ongoing documentary project explores queer male desire in Bogotá, Colombia. At a time marked by the rise of conservative and far-right political movements across Latin America, queer sexuality continues to be subjected to surveillance, censorship, and violence. Within this context, cruising sites, nude gatherings, and orgies become spaces where pleasure, anonymity, vulnerability, risk, and forms of resistance intersect.
The project explores the tension between visibility and protection, and the different ways queer men navigate their bodies and sexuality in spaces that allow them to experience forms of intimacy that may be difficult to live openly. Here, sex is only one part of a more complex encounter: strangers meet, bodies come together, boundaries shift, and moments of affection, solitude, and exposure coexist.
The project also emerges from a deeply personal search. Shaped by my own experience of sexual abuse and by a longstanding discomfort with being identified within the category of “man,” I began photographing these spaces as a way of observing how other men navigate their identities, bodies, and sexuality. Approaching these encounters has also become a way of repairing desire itself.
